A Reception For Shahidul Alam

I have received word that on Sunday, September 25, 2005, from 12:30 to 4:30 pm at Tommy’s Place, Topping Student Center, on the USC Campus, in Los Angeles, friend and fellow photojournalist Shahidul Alam will be feted at a reception in his honor. If you are in LA, do stop by.

Tommy's Place is close to Exposition Blvd. & Trousdale Pkwy. Car entrance is through Gate 3 from Figueroa St.

The reception will also be an opportunity for photographers and videographers from Bangladesh to present their photographs and short films. Invited artists include Laila Nahar & Yasmin Kabir from the San Francisco Bay Area and Rashed Zaman from Los Angeles.

Shahidul will be in town to attend, as an honored guest, the National Geographic's All Roads Film Project in Hollywood.

Two of this year's winners are from Bangladesh including friends of Tiffinbox, Abir Abdullah, whose images from Old Dhaka and Shehzad Noorani for The Children of Black Dust. I am not sure if either or both will also be at hand to discuss their work but meeting Shahidul alone would be a great experience.
