Feel free to post what you may, “I need some artists to play at my wedding”, or “Have you guys seen this play–it's awesome.”, or “Has anyone been to that restaurant Nirvana?”, etc. And, people will actually reply to you!! Write a sentence OR a short novel, and it will be posted. There are some basic housekeeping rules, so please read them, and log-in! Do you give a hoot?

Be eco-friendly. Don't chuck your junk. Give it away to someone who will take it off of your hands and actually use it. How do you do that? Check out Freecycle.

A plethora of web magazines out there. Does Divanee distinguish itself in any way? Anyone read it on a regular basis? Which magazine or web site best caters to desi women? In what way? When you mention the name of the publication(s), please include a URL, if possible. Time to chime.

That is jazz pianist Vijay Iyer in today's New York Times article, India Resounding New York.

Time Out New York, Newsweek and now this about South Asians coming into their own in careers other than medicine, law or computer science. Refreshing, to say the least. These new vocations – in the Arts – are not easy choices to make and they certainly aren't by far the safest ones, considering the state of the economy and the fickle nature of the art world. Yet, it had to happen. While the article speaks of only South Asian music, I suspect other genres of art will also see a resurgence. Only a matter of time when we see sculptors, dancers, photographers making their way into the spotlight, if only for 15 minutes.

Speaking of desi culture pervading the Western landscape, my wife and I have tickets for Bombay Dreams. I'll be sure to post my thoughts here on that spectacle.
