It was by sheer coincidence that I found the Seeing With Photography link on A Photo A Day and received an email from Partho Bhowmick, who runs the organization Blind With Camera.
Partho sent me some samples [the link to the site is apparently linked to a PowerPoint presentation that on the Safari and Firefox browsers doesn't show up. Something he may want to rectify]
Anyway, it has taken be some time to post these but I have held on to them because they are so special. Shot by the visually impaired, it calls to question our ability to see beyond the obvious when we raise the camera to our functioning eyes. For these artists and the work presented here, one gets the sense that they “felt” something deep inside of them when they tripped the shutter. May we also harken back to those days when an image was made by technique, skill and gut instinct.
